1. Have you ever found yourself in a situation in GB that was funny or embarrassing because you broke a British cultural convention?

2. If so, please describe the situation.

  • Ordering food in a restaurant is very difficult for me. I don't know the order for different food. When I join a home party I help myself with sweet cream (don't know the exact name) before I take the main meal. Someone came and talked to me politly: "If you left it after meal it would taste better." (F26 China)
  • English people are very kind on the surface but I cannot know what they really think. (M43 S-Korea)
  • Queued in one line all alone. Didn't know that there is just one line here, not for each customer desk. (M21 Japanese)
  • Due to the different culture in GB and China. Sometimes I have a very different or even contrary way to think and act. This makes people (including myself) feel strange. (F25 China)
